About our Process

Stream of consciousness is the key-

A few years back, we bought two Note/Sketch books. The idea was that Wes would write a story on the lined section on the bottom half of each page in his notebook. At the same time, Jim would draw a picture on the top half in his notebook. Once the notebooks were completed, we exchanged notebooks. The notebook pictured below was drawn in first by Jim and then Wes wrote a story that in some way went along with the picture. The only rule was that everything had to be written and drawn in one sitting as a stream of consciousness.

This Bienfang Note/Sketch book is fantastic! (8.5”x11” above) There is also a smaller version if you want to start with a more manageable size (8”x5.5” below).

All the writing was done with these TRI-CONDEROGA pencils because they feel amazing in your hand. All of the art was created with black SHARPIES because Sharpies are awesome! Take care to put a spacer page between the sheets when using Sharpies. They will bleed through.
